I imagine “Night Rose” as a Nocturne in an unabashedly Romantic style. To me, “Night Rose” has a dream-like quality, expressing feelings of yearning: things hoped-for but not yet realized. Ideally, there should be some rhythmic give-and-take in the melody rather than a literal, metronomic rendering of the rhythm. At measure 37, where the key changes from minor to major, the tempo should pick up a bit, brightening the feel of the music.
