Fretboard Foundations was written to provide guitar students foundational chord and scale visualizations on the guitar. This text is primarily a technique manual with very few notated examples. As a prerequisite to this book, students will need knowledge of fundamental music theory and the notes on the guitar fretboard. It is the intervals related to chords and scales that are the focus of this text. Similarly, this book is designed to help guitar students see digital shapes and their corresponding harmonic relationships. The diagrams provided in this text are layouts or “forms” of essential chords and scales related to jazz and/or commercial music. This text is 66 pages long for the intermediate guitarist.
