Quartet No. 64 Op. 76 No. 5

Quartet No. 64, Op. 76 No. 5 by Joseph Haydn “Father of the String Quartet.” Arranged for Guitar Quartet by Manley Mallard. This quartet composed in 1796 or 1797 is sometimes referred to as the “Largo” due to the tempo indication of the second movement. In the key of D major this quartet is among Haydn’s most ambitious chamber works. A challenging but accessible work for a advanced college ensemble or professional quartet.
