Michael DeLalla

Over a long and storied career, Michael DeLalla has performed and toured extensively, appearing on stages in 44 states and several countries. His compositions for classical, 12-string, and steel-string acoustic guitar draw on his immersion in various traditions found worldwide, including Brazil, North Africa, the Celtic Nations and American jazz. His film, video and dance scores have earned acclaim. Matt Fink of All Music Guide described his compositions as “music of the most exquisite order.” A guest conductor and clinician at numerous festivals, he also conducts workshops based on his book, The Mindful Guitarist. His extensive discography includes solo recordings, his work with various ensembles and as a guest artist on more than 40 recordings. After studies with Glenn Caluda and John Marlow, he spent ten years teaching lessons, coaching chamber groups and conducting guitar ensembles at Shenandoah University’s Conservatory in Virginia before moving to Colorado, where he now makes his home.Text
